M&E Officer

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
The M&E Officer is responsible for observing and ensuring high-quality and timely inputs, ensuring that ELRF maintains its strategic vision by achieving a high survivability rate for planted trees.

Key Deliverables:

  • Data collection, analysis, and interpretation accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical skills and quality reporting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor planted trees to ensure at least 90% survivability.
  • Track daily tree planting activities and share progress reports.
  • Collect and manage data to measure achievements against targets.
  • Conduct data quality checks and input monitoring in ELRF systems.
  • Prepare programme progress reports and assist with reviews and evaluations.
  • Identify lessons learned and develop case studies.
  • Support M&E training initiatives to enhance capabilities.
  • Perform field visits to ensure data quality and project alignment.
  • Design baseline environmental and socio-economic impact report templates.
  • Maintain updated data sets, GIS mapping software, and communication tracking systems.
  • Provide key reports to M&E Coordinator to support donor and partner relations.

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of climate change impacts on forests.
  • Knowledge of forest ecology and ecosystems.
  • Proficiency in GIS and data analysis.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Monitoring and Evaluation, Natural Resources, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a busy environment.

Site Forester

  • Job Type: Full Time
  • Qualification: BA/BSc/HND
  • Location: Nairobi
  • Job Field: Agriculture / Agro-Allied, Project Management

Job Purpose:
The Site Forester conducts technical forestry work, collects forest data, and ensures the health and management of forested lands.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee operations of planting and nursery teams.
  • Develop and manage mangrove nurseries, including species selection and propagation timelines.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to mangrove propagation and survival.
  • Coordinate propagule collection and transportation to planting sites.
  • Monitor daily planting updates, including species planted and progress documentation.
  • Ensure the security of planted mangroves and address issues promptly.

Technical and General Competencies:

  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and open to feedback.
  • Ability to work under high-pressure environments.
  • Coaching and mentorship skills.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or related fields.
  • Experience in mangrove ecosystems is a must.
