Are you an ambitious undergraduate student looking to gain hands-on research experience in computer science and artificial intelligence? The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) 2025 at INSAIT is now accepting applications! This prestigious program offers students the chance to work on cutting-edge research projects under the mentorship of top-tier faculty.
About the Program
Modeled after successful summer research initiatives at MIT, Caltech, and ETH Zurich, the SURF program is entering its third edition after successful launches in 2023 and 2024. Participants will contribute to ongoing research projects and may even co-author papers for leading AI and computer science conferences.
Program Duration
- Length: 8 to 12 weeks, with a minimum 8-week presence required in Sofia, Bulgaria.
- Note: Remote participation is not allowed to ensure full engagement with hands-on research and mentorship.
Financial Support
- Monthly stipend of 1500 EUR for living expenses.
- Fully covered accommodation arranged by INSAIT.
- Travel expenses and visa assistance provided.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, students must:
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university.
- Study a STEM discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering).
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 (out of 4.0) or the equivalent.
- Applications from underrepresented communities in STEM are encouraged.

Program Requirements
