Brief Description:
The Application Administrator is responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, security, and optimal performance of corporate systems and applications. This will be achieved through daily monitoring, maintenance, user administration, backup processes, and configuration optimization. The role includes resolving systems problems and issues within agreed service levels to minimize disruptions.
Detailed Description:
- Implement and monitor system controls to ensure information integrity.
- Ensure system and user availability well above the SLA levels for all systems.
- Manage external software and hardware suppliers to ensure they meet their SLAs.
- Provide trend analysis reports to IT management to support decision-making.
- Standardize and document systems, support techniques, and adhere to IT service management processes to ensure system reliability.
- Work with the Problem Manager to identify trends and root causes to resolve issues within SLA times.
- Test, monitor, and support all interfaces to ensure IT service availability.
- Collaborate with the Business Systems Implementation team to ensure hardware sizing supports service availability.
- Work with the IT Implementation team to address problems requiring further systems development within agreed SLAs.
- Maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures, ensuring IT service continuity.
- Implement and maintain database security configurations.
- Install all patch upgrades to ensure system security and resilience.
- Review performance metrics and alerts proactively to ensure event correlation and trend analysis.
- Manage capacity, performance, availability, integrity, and security of databases with reporting & monitoring tools.
- Work collaboratively with the team and consult with technical experts/vendors as necessary.
- Manage and coordinate system upgrades and customizations with vendors, end-users, and IT resources.
- Recommend and implement tools to improve productivity and reduce costs.
- Ensure smooth transitions and post-implementation support through proper documentation and timelines.
- Provide technical expertise for planning, coordination, and implementation of software projects.
- Offer technical advice during the design of information system projects to meet KQ standards.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT or a related field.
- Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE).
- Good Unix/Linux administration knowledge and skills.
- Oracle Database Administration certification.
- Cloud administration certification, skills, and experience.
- ITIL Foundation Certification.
- Networking skills.
- Basic hardware knowledge.
- Three (3) years of experience in systems administration in a similar environment.
