Brief Description:
The GSE Maintenance Technician is responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing Ground Handling Support Equipment (GSE) in a safe and cost-effective manner to ensure timely service delivery.
Detailed Description:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, policies, processes, and procedures to guarantee that work is performed in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Foster and maintain a positive safety culture and promote cost-effective operations for Kenya Airways.
- Identify, report, and address hazards, near misses, incidents, and accidents.
- Service, maintain, and repair electrical/electronic failures in GSE and motor vehicles according to the maintenance schedule.
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective measures for electrical, electronic, and PLC defects in GSE and motor vehicles.
- Respond promptly to GSE emergency breakdowns to avoid delays in aircraft operations.
- Perform repairs, overhauls, and modifications on major equipment components (e.g., engines, gearboxes, hydraulic and electrical systems).
- Requisition materials required for maintenance tasks to ensure timely availability of GSE and motor vehicles for ground operations.
- Maintain records of all electrical/electronic/PLC maintenance activities and equipment history.
- Conduct pre-delivery and post-maintenance checks on GSE.
- Facilitate preventive maintenance of all GSE.
- Conduct quality spot checks to ensure compliance with safety and service standards.
- Overhaul electrical components and PLC systems that control transmission systems, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Guide, train, and mentor newly recruited and existing GSE technicians.
- Adhere to KQ WAY principles and best practices.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering.
- 2-3 years of experience in Automotive/Heavy Diesel/Mobile Plant environment, with expertise in electrical, wiring, and schematics.
- Experience in computerized PLC repairs.
- Sound understanding of electrical power/electronics and electrical schematics.
- Experience with PLC operations, diagnostics, and related repairs.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic electrical circuits.
- Basic workshop operations such as welding and lathe work.
- Valid driving license.
