NYS Announces 2025 Nationwide Recruitment Exercise.
The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) has announced a countrywide recruitment of volunteer servicemen and women. The exercise will take place from Monday, February 10, to Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 384 recruitment centers across the country.

NYS Announces 2025 Nationwide Recruitment Dates
The National Youth Service is set to recruit volunteer Servicemen and Women into the Service. Interested candidates should report to the recruiting center in their Sub-County as indicated in the advertisement.
Requirements for Applicants
The Commandant General of NYS outlined the following eligibility criteria for interested candidates:
- Nationality and Residence: Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective sub-county of recruitment.
- Age: Between 18 and 24 years.
- Academic Qualifications: A minimum mean grade of D plain and above in KCSE.
- Documents:
- Original national ID card.
- Original academic certificates along with one set of photocopies.
- Certificate of Good Conduct: Mandatory for all applicants.
- Medical Fitness: Must be ready to undergo medical examinations during and after the recruitment.
- Physical and Voluntary Commitment: Willingness to undergo rigorous physical training and to offer voluntary service in any part of Kenya.
Special Considerations
- Orphans meeting the qualifications will receive special preference upon providing sufficient documentation (e.g., death certificates or burial permits of parents).
- Persons with disabilities are encouraged to participate, provided they can handle the demanding physical training.
- Applicants with sports skills and talents will also be considered.
Training Details
Successful candidates will report to the NYS Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil or the NYSTTI in Naivasha for a six-month non-combat paramilitary course. Reporting dates and times will be communicated through calling letters.
Zero Tolerance for Corruption
The NYS has emphasized that corruption, bribery, or canvassing will not be tolerated. Any attempt to offer monetary or other forms of inducements for admission will lead to immediate disqualification and/or prosecution.

Candidates are encouraged to report any corrupt practices to the Commandant General via 020-2400129.
